The Alhambra Library has an important collection of periodicals, and this month we have decided to recommend one of the most interesting: Muqarnas, an annual on the visual cultures of the Islamic world

Muqarnas is funded by the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of whose functions is to sponsor the publication of academic works on history of art and Islamic architecture.

Muqarnas is an annual publication which first appeared in 1983. In its 33 volumes published to date, there are articles about all aspects of Islamic culture both historic and contemporary and also about unpublished primary written sources. 

The Alhambra Library has had a subscription to Muqarnas ever since it first appeared and as with the other periodicals, the Library analyses and catalogues all those articles relating to or associated with the Alhambra, amongst which the following are also of great interest:
