The Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation awards the Medal of Honour to the Granada Science Park Consortium

The Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation has awarded its Medal of Honour 2012 to the Granada Science Park Consortium for “contributing to the promo-tion and dissemination of scientific knowledge in society, and for its affinity with the broad ideology of its founder, José María Rodríguez-Acosta”.
Since 1967, this Granada institution has been giving these awards to personalities, artists or entities who contribute in any field or cultural activity to the conservation and improvement of the artistic and landscape values of Granada and the promotion of its monuments.
The Director of the Granada Science Park Consortium, Ernesto Páramo, will receive the award in a ceremony this afternoon in the Gardens of the Carmen Blanco the site of the Foundation. It will be presented by the President of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation, the artist, Miguel Rodríguez-Acosta, and it is expected that numerous personalities from the world of Culture, Art and Politics will attend, including the Director of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife and Vice-president of the Foundation, María del Mar Villafranca, and the Delegate of the Regional Government of Andalusia, María José Sánchez, among others.
The Governing Board of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation praised in particular the fact that the Science Park is the “first interactive science mu-seum in Andalusia” and one of the “most important tourist attractions in the city”, according to the artist Miguel Rodríguez-Acosta
The Granada Science Park Consortium is made up of the Departments of Education, Environment, Economy and Innovation and Science of the Regional Government of Andalusia, together with Granada City Council, Granada Provincial Council, the University of Granada, the Spanish National Scientific Research Council, the Caja Rural Foundation and the CajaGranada Foundation.
For Ernesto Páramo, this Medal of Honour is a reward for all the work done by the Science Park “over these last 18 years. This is a new incentive and motivation to continue bringing Science closer to the whole of society”. For her part, the Director of the Alhambra congratulated the Director of the Science Park Consortium and highlighted the work done by this institution as a “promoter of Culture” not only in Granada and the province, but also as a landmark in Andalusia”.
