The Alhambra shows its records on the occasion of the International Archives Day

The Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife will show its records on the occasion of the International Archives Day on 9 June. A programme of guided visits to the Alhambra Archive has been organized, enabling visitors to explore the collection, which includes maps, photographs, engravings, posters, etc.
Those interested in participating in this activity are invited to sign up before 9 June by sending your first and last name together with the number of your ID or password to archivo.pag@juntadeandalucia.es
Those participating in the visits to the Archive and Library of the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife will learn more about the origin, purpose, organization, installations and description of the collection as well as about the document restoration works that are carried out at the place.
The visit will pass to the research room, where the online access to the Alhambra Library and Alhambra Library as well as its various functions will be explained. Then the visitors will be shown how to search and consult the records of the collection of the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, by the means of databases and the process of digitalization. At the end, the visitors will learn more about the cataloguing process and the division into sectors.
The International Archives Day is held on the occasion of the foundation of the International Council on Archives at UNESCO in 1948. It gives occasion to promote the significance of archives in the service of research, culture, memory and transparency.
