The Alhambra and the Generalife is the minting of the €2 coins

The Royal Spanish Mint will strike and distribute in 2011 a series of €2 coins as legal tender to commemorate the Alhambra, the Generalife and the Albaicín quarter of Granada.
The inner part of the coins’ obverse side will depict the Court of the Lions of the Alhambra in Granada, next to the inscription ‘Spain’, written in an arc, and the year mark 2011.
According to a decree of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance, published today in the Spanish Official Bulletin of the State (BOE), this coinage is the thematic continuation of the ministerial decree of 9 December 2009 on Spain’s properties or sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The maximum volume of these coins to be issued will be 8 million, but, according to the BOE, could increase by 20%.
