The wall paintings of the house next to the portico of the Tower of the Ladies (Torre de las Damas).
In the lower Partal area the traditional Nasrid palace with a central water pond in the courtyard and lateral five-arch arcaded galleries, was built during the time of Muhammad III (1302-1309). On one side of the portico stand some houses or Partal Dwellings, among which we can mention the House of the Paintings, where we can find some original fragments of the portico’s painting and a wall painting with scenes of the Nasrid Court. The paintings are done in tempera on stucco and are divided into three sections: the lower frieze with hunting scenes, the central frieze the booty and return to the camp site, and the upper frieze with feast scenes.
These representations help reconstruct aspects of the life of the time, from the robes to the feasts. They are a clear example against the typical belief that the Koran prohibited the representation of human figures.
