Concluido el periodo de vigencia del Plan Director de la Alhambra y el Generalife 2007-2020, el Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife afronta ahora el reto de elaborar un nuevo documento estratégico. En esta etapa de preparación y reflexión, el Patronato ha considerado la organización de un ciclo de conferencias que sirvan como espacio de análisis, debate y generación de propuestas para orientar las futuras líneas de actuación del nuevo Plan Director.

La Conferencia Internacional «Repensando el futuro de la Alhambra: 20 años de Plan Director y 40 de Patrimonio Mundial» pretende constituirse como un foro de encuentro en el que reflexionar sobre los desafíos contemporáneos en la gestión, conservación y proyección internacional del Conjunto Monumental de la Alhambra y el Generalife. A lo largo de dos jornadas, reuniremos a reconocidos especialistas nacionales e internacionales para abordar cuestiones clave como la revisión del Plan Director, la aplicación de normativas internacionales de salvaguarda y conservación del patrimonio histórico, la sostenibilidad, la cooperación institucional, la evaluación de impacto patrimonial o el impacto del turismo.

Conmemorando dos hitos decisivos —los veinte años del primer Plan Director y los cuarenta de la declaración de la Alhambra como Patrimonio Mundial—, esta conferencia aspira a sentar las bases de una nueva etapa de planificación estratégica del Conjunto Monumental.

Once the Alhambra and Generalife Master Plan 2007-2020 term has expired, the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife faces the challenge of setting up its new strategic document for management. During this stage of preparation and reflection, the Council has organized a series of conferences to analyze, debate, and launch proposals that will guide the strategies of the upcoming Master Plan.

The International Conference “Rethinking the Future of the Alhambra: 20 Years of the Master Plan and 40 Years as a World Heritage” seeks to become a meeting forum to reflect on contemporary challenges in the management, conservation, and international projection of the Alhambra and Generalife Monumental Complex. Over two days, the event will bring together renowned national and international specialists to address key issues such as the review of the Master Plan, the application of international safeguarding and conservation standards, sustainability, institutional co-operation, heritage impact assessment, or the impact of tourism.

Commemorating two decisive milestones—twenty years since the first Master Plan and forty years since the Alhambra’s designation as a World Heritage Site—this conference seeks to lay the foundations for a new stage of strategic planning for the Monumental Complex
