The Royal Road was the main thoroughfare from the Alhambra Medina to the Monastery of San Francisco.

The Royal Road, the main thoroughfare in the Medina quarter and the Alhambra citadel, has been used since medieval times. Nevertheless, the building of the Monastery of  San Francisco  and its subsequent transformation into a Parador hotel have greatly altered the road, to the extent that it hardly resembles what it once was.

Coming down the street visitors will arrive at the Gate of Wine, which is the entrance to the Alcazaba.
