Educational programme. Alhambra of Granada
Its objective is to develop the enjoyment and the aesthetic perception respecting Heritage and History.
Educational programme
The Alhambra Educa is the educational Program of the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife. It includes the following possibilities:
1. The Alhambra and the kids
- Guided visits by heritage specialists.
- Free guided visits by participant professors.
The programme of self-guided visits intends to facilitate students and accompanying teachers free access to the Alhambra in order to promote the knowledge and understanding of this cultural site. More than 20,000 children of the European Community benefit each year of this opportunity, with which the Council commits itself with the less favoured school children and educational centres.
In this programme it is the teaching staff of the educational centre who make the guided visit to the Monument and select the contents of the visit.
For this reason the preparation in advance of the tour improves the educational benefits of the visit as well as enhances the students’ motivation and attention to the things they are going to see and experience.
Before the visit to the Alhambra the group of students should know the itinerary of the visit and the most relevant points they are going to see. The idea is that students and teachers work together in the classroom before the visit.
It is also important to recall on the correct behaviour and attitude during the visit and be respectful and responsible. The educational quality of the activity greatly depends on the time and efforts devoted to this issue.
The Council has specific educational material available. Teachers who may be interested can ask for a copy to prepare their visit to the Alhambra.
4. International Museum Day
All these possibilities try to develop capacities that allow the enjoyment and the perception of aesthetic values, promoting through it the development of people with a great feeling for stimuli, and at the same time respectful with Heritage and History
