The Alhambra is more accessible. The most visited Group of Monuments in Spain is also playing a pioneering role in the removal of architectural barriers. Time ago a lift was installed in the Palace of Charles V that links the Museum of the Alhambra on the ground floor of the Palace with the Fine Arts Museum on the upper floor. This project has been implemented thanks to an agreement signed in 2011 between the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife and the La Caixa Social Programme and will make the visit to the Palace City easier for disabled people, families with babies and children, senior citizens, people with walking difficulties and all our visitors in general.
The Alhambra continues working hard to make the Monument more accessible. For this reason we have installed “Touch points” along the route followed by visitors, so that visually handicapped people and indeed any other visitors can touch and in this way perceive the details of the different features that decorate the Monument. By touching the touch points instead of the original decorations, they will also be participating in the preventive conservation of the monument.

Due to the difficulties to install restrooms in a monument like this, there is a limited, although sufficient number of public restrooms. Take this circumstance into account before starting the visit.
