Research Department

The main objective of this Department is to facilitate the study of the Monuments to researchers and to develop Research and Co-operation Programmes jointly with other cultural institutions or research centres with the final aim of converting the Alhambra into the main reference of research and scientific dissemination.

  • How can you obtain a researcher member card of the Alhambra?

    Upon request by the researcher, the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife opens a report file and issues the card for a maximum length of one year, after which it can be renewed.

  • Since when has the Library of the Alhambra got documentation?

    The foundation of the Library dates back to 1901 with the Legacy of Count Romanones, although there is evidence of its existence in 1872, along with the Archive.

    It has a valuable thematic collection of travel Literature, architecture, Islamic art, etc. Likewise, the library has completed its collection incorporating works of great importance such as Vitrubio, etc.
