The Alhambra and the 25 anniversary of its declaration as a UNESCO Site of World Heritage constitutes the essential part of the course that will be held on September 14 to 18, as one of the activities organized by the Centro Mediterráneo of the University of Granada in collaboration with the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife.
The course La Alhambra y el Patrimonio Mundial: Identidad y universalidad en el 25 aniversario de su declaración de Patrimonio Mundial (The Alhambra and the World Heritage: Identity and universality in the 25 anniversary of its declaration as a World Heritage Site), is directed by Maria del Mar Villafranca, Director of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife, as well as by José Castillo Ruiz, professor at the University of Granada. For five days, a great group of experts will examine the protection policy applied on the Monumental Complex.
Furthermore, the meeting intends to focus on questions like the regulation of the tourist flows, the cooperation between the World Heritage Sites by means of the creation of networks as the Alliance of Cultural Landscapes or the application of new management organs and forms. The course will take place at the Conference Room of the Palace of Charles V in the Alhambra.
