The Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife is in charge of the safekeeping, administration and conservation of the Alhambra, Generalife and Palace of Charles V, together with all the buildings, forests, flower and vegetable gardens, and lands, as well as the establishment and development of the plans to be followed in their conservation, restoration, excavations and investigations and, in general, everything that relates, affects and can be executed within the boundaries of its grounds and surroundings.

It is twenty-five years now since the establishment of the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife.

During these 25 years, it has met the needs of protection and conservation of this important and exceptional heritage, from a modern protection concept of cultural properties that go beyond the historical-artistic area and is expanded to the preservation of the surroundings and the landscaping dimension as it corresponds to its urban nature within the Historical-Artistic Complex of Granada.
