The main objective of this Department is to facilitate the study of the Monuments to researchers and to develop Research and Co-operation Programmes jointly with other cultural institutions or research centres with the final aim of converting the Alhambra into the main reference of research and scientific dissemination.

Research is one of the main agents that contribute to social, cultural and economic progress in our society of knowledge. For this reason the research structure of this Department of the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife is flexible and dynamic to easily adapt to the new social changes.+
This research structure runs in pace with the research action plans of the local, national and international bodies, which will allow the Alhambra to become a reference of scientific research and dissemination.
